GLEAMING SKY - GREAT ESCAPE.

Hi all,
The weight of GLEAMING SKY in her win in race no. 48 was quoted as 497 kgs.Yesterday she was quoted as 517 kgs or 20 kgs plus. When I saw this, I was a bit upset and stayed away from betting. In 54 days she has gained a weight of 20 kgs which is abnormal. During this period she was tracked 6 times and yet the weight increases by 20 kgs. How?
For e.g. SIMPLY SCINTILLATE when racing after a long gap of 155 days had lost 2kgs whereas the stablemate GLEAMING SKY gains 20 kgs in 54 days.
Similarly SHOOT A RAINBOW when racing as odds on in race no.26 after a gap of 114 days had gained a weight of 19 kgs and could finish only 4th.
The odds on GLEAMING SKY quickly drifted to 12/10 with place offered at 6/10.Most punters took a chance each way and finally the bookmakers were smiling when the favourite finished 4th in a 6 horse field, a distance behind the 3rd placed ECHOES OF LIGHT.
After the race the punters consoled themselves for playing a wrong horse since she was unable to manage the double promotion.
To me, double promotion is not the reason; the simple reason was the increase in weight.
How did she put on 20 kgs in 54 days inspite of being tracked half a dozen times?
This abnormal weight increase could have happened only if water is tubed into her belly, an age old practice, to stop a favourite from winning/placing.
So, next time when you are inside the course, check the weight displayed on the screen and if you find anything fishy, just stay away from wagering even if you have picked it as unbeatable.

Yes Abel you are right usualy the punters are not noting the weight when it shown on tv screen and as and when the horse gain morethen 5 kg then i do not give more imortance to that perticular horse and in the case as you pointed out is an abnormal increase one should take care of it. Any way at all punters have to see themself for thair own money we can just point out.
